A Song & A Calling

I heard a song recently that changed everything for me.  Sometimes God reaches us in the simplest of ways.  The song is called “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle.  When I heard it at work, I knew immediately that something shifted inside me.  I felt the prayers of my parents.  I felt God’s presence.  I felt peace.

So, I did what anyone else would do, I went on with my day, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it.  I listened to the song again in my car on my way home.  It all became so clear.  I have been running from Him, and I have finally realized that the whole time, He has been chasing me. He’s the God who stays. His fingerprints are all over my life, and I am unbelievable grateful.

“He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few.  So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more worker into His fields.’” (Matthew 9: 37 NLT)

God has gifted me with creativity and the written word. I have always seen these things as hobbies, but it’s truly a calling. I am ready to use that gift to be a laborer for Him.  I’m ready to go into the fields and work to bring more people to Him.  There are not enough workers, but it’s time I do my part.

I don’t have it all figured out. All I can do is pray that He helps me.  God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.  I’m scared that no one will find anything I say helpful.  I’m nervous about what people will think.  I’m human, I’m messy, I’m apprehensive, I’m insecure… but I will use Scripture and prayer to find the words, the encouragement, the strength, and the confidence to follow my calling.  I am prepared for God to use me to show others the way to Him.

This will be a space to talk about how Christ can come alongside us as healthcare workers to give us strength.  A place to be real about the challenges and heartbreak of working on the front line.  An environment to talk about how our workplace cultures could be different by responding in a spirit of kindness, humanity, and faith.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11: 28-30 NLT)

A relationship with God can change everything.  We go to work every day and give our hearts and souls to our patients.  I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to give the heaviness and weariness that often comes with our work to Him.

I pray in Jesus name that this blog brings positivity and love and light to anyone who needs it.  Please help me to glorify You and share Your Word with grace and passion.  Please shelter me with your wings and give me strength and confidence.  Thank you for chasing me all these years. Thank you for being my anchor and my steadiness. You are overwhelming to me.   Amen
